The Jungle Book

Opening picture

On Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st July, 140 local talented dancers will take to the stage in Turning Pointe School of Dance’s production of The Jungle Book. An exciting retelling of Rudyard Kipling's story, which follows orphaned Mowgli's journey, with Bagheera the black panther and Baloo the bear, as he travels from his home to grow up among a family of wolves. When man-eating tiger, Shere Khan, threatens to disrupt jungle life, Mowgli is persuaded to move on, meeting elephants, monkeys, Kaa the snake and many others on his journey through a mystical land to the man village. An exotic coming of age story combining choreography, drama, pathos and humour. The show is being held at Hurstpierpoint College’s state of the art New Bury Theatre and promises to be a stunning visual treat for all ages.

Tickets for the Jungle Book are available from www.ticketsource.co.uk/turning-pointe-school-of-dance or by calling the box office on 0333 666 3366.

We are delighted that another one of our senior students, Mathilde Anderson Mellor, has won a place on the prestigious Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) scheme at Trinity Laban in London. Mathilde has just achieved a Distinction for her Grade 6 RAD Ballet exam, and is excited about this new opportunity to further her dance training:

“Going to Trinity Laban has always been one of my dreams due to its amazing reputation for dance training. So having a chance to audition was too good to miss, but I never thought I would get in. I am really excited about a new style of learning, meeting new people and having the opportunity to dance in such a great environment.”

"I just wanted to say how absolutely blown away I was by the performances I watched. I don't know what I was expecting, but I wasn't expecting the unbeleivable standard that I saw! I actually was so moved emotionally at watching several of the dances and had tears in my eyes! My daughter has loved being art of something so special. Please pass on my congratulations to all the team. You must be very proud of your family there at Turning Pointe, you genuinely do acheive something really special, big congratulations to you!!
